Omneon Video Networks at Save the Bay Omneon Video Networks recently renewed its commitment to the community by sending a team of volunteers participating with Save the Bay at the San Francisquito Creek. The team gave three hours of service during work hours. Half of the group of employee volunteers transplanted seedlings into larger pots and the other half went out into the baylands and removed non-native plants. Team members potted so many plants that they ran out of planting material! Everyone really enjoyed themselves, though the heat was a bit much that day, even on the Bay. Employee Jennifer Wolf said of the project, “It was a nice change of pace. It gave me an opportunity to learn something about the Bay Area, make a difference, and get to know colleagues that I don't get to interact with on a regular basis. I would definitely do it again." And, Margaret Andrews of Omneon summed it up by noting, “It really is great to help our community and strengthen our co-worker relationships at the same time."

CenterBeam at Habitat for Humanity Since its inception over five years ago, CenterBeam has had an active corporate charity program. It joined the Entrepreneurs Foundation at the end of 2003 to give more structure to its program and find new ways for it – and its employees -- to support the community. After joining the foundation, CenterBeam established corporate partnerships with the Second Harvest Food Bank and Special Olympics of Northern California. CenterBeam employees have actively supported the Peninsula Habitat for Humanity and the Resource Area for Teachers. This fall, CenterBeam will, for the third consecutive year, participate in a toy drive through the Family Giving Tree. Recently, Kevin Francis, CenterBeam president and chief executive officer, was the keynote speaker at a conference and donated his honorarium to a woman and children’s shelter.
“I like to participate in CenterBeam’s community programs for two reasons,” said Cheryl Adams , a CenterBeam employee. “The structure of the program helps me focus on my desire to give something back to the local community. It helps solve the problem so many people face of deciding where to begin what with so many deserving agencies and programs in the area. The other reason I like the program is that it further develops the teambuilding that happens at work. I like the people I work with in the office and I have enjoyed working with them outside the office on charitable community projects.”
As CenterBeam kicked off its holiday food drive, Kevin Francis said, “CenterBeam’s charitable programs aren’t something optional for the company. The work we do through the Entrepreneurs Foundation is what we owe to our community, and our way of acting on that obligation.”
